LCA2009 Art Project Brochure
From Wiki.a-wa-re.com
Purpose and Audience
The brochure is aimed at conference delegated who:
- May know nothing about contemporary art.
- Have little knowledge of the local physical/social environment.
- Are highly technologically literate.
- Have some awareness of the ethical/legal/social aspects of technology.
The brochure's purpose is to:
- Encourage participation in each project.
- Provide information on the overall project and each individual project.
- Pique the interest of the delegates.
Each artist should submit:
- Text describing their project - up to 100 words.
- Very short bio - up to 25 words.
Things to be aware of when writing project texts:
- Keep the text accessible to the intended audience!
- A connection to the curatorial premise would be helpful since it would contribute to the overall cohesion of the brochure.
- The text is not (only) an artist's statement - statements usually describe the artist's motivations and the context of the work. Whilst these can be covered in the brochure, it is more important that the text convey what it is that the delegates will find interesting about the work and how they can participate.
- The brochure doesn't have to be overly formal: be funny, be naughty, be provocative, ask interesting questions...
